Sneakers

Here are some sneakers that have shown up on the blogs lately and look pretty good. Not sure when they come out.

Adidas coming in hot with the B-Sides

Micropacer done right

Flashback to 35th Anniversary Consortium

UNDFTD Top Ten’s are pretty nice. I’d rock them. We saw this in the Stingray Dunk Hi though.

L. A. Trainer in White / Green is classic. Other colorway isn’t bad either.

Stan Smith 80′s Suede is hot too.

Rod Laver Skate

Forest Hills Archive Pack

I usually really dislike the Star Wars collabs, but this shit isn’t bad.

New Balance 997 Librarian Steez is ok.

WTaps Vans Syndicate is a nice flashback.

Vans Half Cab 20th Anniversary. Duct Tape version is sweet.

Dee & Ricky vs Jeremy Scott???

The kid’s version is pretty good.

Usually not a huge fan of Jeremy Scott, but under those wings could be a nicely done sneaker. Now someone tell me how to wear denim on denim…

Good colors on the Talaria. I’d take a pair at $40?

Space Jam Dunk is nice.

If the 40 other brands who have been or are now doing boat shoes aren’t enough for you. Here’s Nike’s. They look nice though.

sneakers from the past week

Haven’t talked about any current sneakers so here’s some stuff that showed up on the usual blogs this past week, that we endorse.

burn-rubber-nb-580-4

Burn Rubber 580. It’s just a grey New Balance, but it’s nice.

III’s…Obviously

mita-adidas-originals-rod-laver-1

Mita Rod Lavers.

Takes you back to ’03 when Nike hooked up the wheat uptowns, the Forbes SB’s and those other high top SB’s that were in the second series.

These are just good to have in your arsenal when November comes around.

zxz

Adidas ZXZ cause they’re waterproof….and look tough.

My size 11′s are on eBay

In light of what happened the other night with those Jordan IV’s, I decided that it’s time to get rid of some sneakers. Although I don’t consider myself a collector, I have more DS sneakers than I can wear in the for-see-able future. Instead of waiting for some of them to fall apart, I just put them on eBay. Most are size 11 and there are one or two 10.5′s. I believe I priced them very fairly, so take a look. You can also email me if you want to make an offer. I wouldn’t mind not having to pay eBay. My email is nick@classickicks.com or take a look at the AUCTIONS.

I had a bad feeling this was gonna happen.

buggin-out

Like I said. I had a bad feeling this was gonna happen.

I knew my 1999 White / Cement Air Jordan IV Retros wouldn’t last forever. I’ve read the reports of this happening to a handful of other people like me who tried to preserve the last piece of pure Nike Air Jordan history on the planet. I thought I had it figured out. Silica packs to prevent yellowing, but not too many that they suck all the moisture out of the box. You don’t want the mid-soles to become brittle. I wore them every couple months to give them time to breathe and flex. I kept them in a cool, dry, dark place.

It doesn’t matter what you do. Your Jordan IV’s are gonna fall apart.

Check out the pics.

I was just looking at Nicekicks.com and i’m feeling the techy stuff that’s coming out. Look at the six sneakers pictured above. The Air Force are actually nice, but they look like dinosaurs. The canvas vulcanized stuff is cool for a summer weekend, but shouldn’t be worn day in and day out. The Air Max 90 is dope in mesh with neon, but all grey leather looks cheap.

The other three just look more appealing to me. I mean, most of us are obsessed with technology and performance, but don’t require it from our sneakers? That should be one of the first places we look for it. It’s possible to combine style and function. We saw it in the 90′s and some companies are going for it again now. Adidas has been putting some stuff together and these Nikes up here are nice (even if they are just wildwoods on a new tech bottom). Those Escape retros are pretty damn nice too. Those and the Adidas would be “copped” if I was buying sneakers right now.

Jordan VII Premio BIN 23

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

air-jordan-vii-premio-bin-23-collection-0

Not really sure the deal with “premio bin 23″, and I typically can’t stand most Jordans that aren’t original colors, but for some reason, I like these crazy VII’s that go against most of what I stand for. The print and colorway are a throwback to early 90′s Mutumbo style, Cross Colours, “tribal” design. I don’t know what tribe, but at least it’s not the one who gets their bicep tattooed.

These come out sometime in the near future. Check the blogs for release info if you’re interested.

J. Crew x New Balance 1400

j-crew-new-balance-1400

Anyone else see these J. Crew New Balance 1400′s?

I went into the J. Crew Store on Madison the other day and it looked like Williamsburg up in that shit.

None of the featured product was even J. Crew Brand. They had the “Brooklyn Lumberjack” look featured, which consisted of flannels, boots, corduroys, wool caps and hunting jackets. I’ll admit they had all heritage brands and a nicely curated selection. Just don’t try to wear more than two of those things at once and not be in the woods somewhere. It honestly looked like my closet in 1993. Even down to the San Francisco Seals wool cap.

So back to the sneakers…… J. Crew typically has what you would expect them to have as far as sneakers are concerned. The stuff that goes with khakis: Stan Smith, Jack Purcell, Spring Court. Now we see this New Balance 1400 (also in navy), which are allegedly exclusive to select J. Crew stores and the catalog (via hypebeast). Not only are they exclusive, they are Made in U.S.A. I don’t see any J. Crew branding on the sneakers, but it could be there.

This is a pretty interesting collaboration. The shoes aren’t neck or ground breaking, but a partnership you have to notice.

They could have made these a little more unique given the opportunity, but I don’t think J. Crew really has sneaker people working there.

J. Crew is going after it with the new concept shops and business model. I wonder what other sneaker collabs are coming down the line? I need to google J. Crew and Mickey D. later…..

I wouldn’t be surprised if this little collab opens the door for some even crazier shit in the future.

I’ll see you guys in line for the Target exclusives.
