Holiday 2012 CP3

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

Here are the Holiday 2012 colors of the CP3. This is the sixth sneaker in the Chris Paul Nike franchise and no doubt, the lightest. These sneakers feature Hyperfuse technology which provide an almost seamless upper, Podulon forefoot for lightweight and responsive cushioning, and a Jordan XIII-esque molded Phylon midsole, just to pay homage to Chris Paul’s favorite (and stolen), sneakers while he was growing up.

The blue and red are the Olympic colorway that were released earlier this month and the other two are on their way. I personally like these sneakers a lot. I like the fact that Nike is back in the business of making technical performance basketball sneakers that I can wear every day. It almost feels like a throwback to the late 80′s when design and technology were perfectly in sync.

The black and red I can live without, and the brightness of the blue and red doesn’t bother me at all. I think the star of the pack are the white ones though. They look almost like a bad-ass old-school ACG to me with a little touch of the Jordan inspiration on the bottom. These sneakers feel like the future in your hands too. Dragonfly inspiration with Hyperfuse create a beautiful lightweight CP3 that I would love to have shipped to me in a size 11. Thanks in advance.

Jordan IX “Kilroy”

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

For those of you who don’t remember Johnny Kilroy, you can see him at #33 on my Top 50 list for Complex.

These IX’s are named after him. These are set for Holiday 2012 which starts in October, so look out for these soon.

Even More Jordan 1′s

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

This is the last of the Jordan 1 pics. I should have taken some close-ups of the Knicks colorway.

You’ll also notice the “Kilroy” IX’s and the XI returning this Christmas.

Carolina, Georgetown & Marquette Air Jordan 1′s

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

Jordan brand is also bringing back the original Air Jordan “windbreaker” although not a windbreaker. They are doing the outfit and the Air Jordan 1 in some classic college colorways in addition to the 63 point 1′s. You’ll also see some of the official on-court NCAA apparel…

Air Jordan 1 OG Returns In Spring 2013

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

I was invited to Nike today to preview Holiday 2012 and Spring 2013 Jordan, Melo and CP product.

There is a strong Air Jordan 1 presence, but obviously my favorite one is the original colorway. Here are some pics.

More blog posts to follow.

It’s been a while…

Friday, September 14th, 2012

yes it has. I actually wanted to post something yesterday and forgot the password. This layout looks schwaggy and maybe I’ll set up another site with posts like this on Tumblr. We’ll see…

I’m sure people still check in here once in a while right? I don’t look at the stats too often and as you probably know already, the sneaker stuff is all on the Classic Kicks Tumblr now.

Well, I don’t know how many more advertisements I can post and besides, there should be a book coming out that I was a part of that will cover ALL of that, but we’ll see if I’m even credited as promised?

Since the sneaker world has eaten itself up and everything else has gone tech, I have started working on some other projects that are very enjoyable and bring back the excitement that I used to get from sneakers back in 2002-2003 when everything was still just starting to happen.

I have recently been approached to contribute to a site that focuses more on the technical aspect of footwear and apparel and I am a little excited for that. I do enjoy sharing the historical aspect of sneakers and the marketing behind them, but you can’t keep getting excited for the same Jordan IV release every 12 months. I do love some of the new running stuff out there and my Classic Kicks Vans Eras still make me very happy.

So what the fuck am I wasting your time for? I’m not big on declarations or telling you what to do, but I thought I would share some of the things that are making me very happy at the moment. This doesn’t include family and friends. This is stuff that you can also buy and probably enjoy as much as I do.

No particular order…maybe a little bit of an order -

Budnitz Bicycles No. 2 Titanium

I’m not a good liar so I will just tell you that I have been doing some work with these guys and the bikes are fucking awesome! Seriously. I know they look great and the components are all top-of-the-line and all that, but it isn’t until you ride one that you realize how beautiful these bikes are.

Let’s start with the fact that this thing is all titanium. The frame, handlebars, seat post and stem are all titanium and designed by Paul Budnitz. This thing is light, strong, and fast. I have been riding the No. 1 Titanium and the gorgeous No. 3 Honey Edition around this summer, but this one here is my favorite.

This thing is so much fun to ride that I wake up every morning and have to get out on it. Fortunately (and unfortunately), my bike is with a great men’s magazine editor, so I have been going through withdraws. Is that how you spell it? I though it was withdrawls? Anyway.

Here are some more pics of the bike -

So yeah. Also look at the Gates Carbon Belt. No chain, no grease, no noise. Chris King Headset, White Industries Hubs, etc. Everything is top notch, but that’s for the geeks to worry about. This thing is my new best friend. It has let me explore the city more in a few weeks than I had in ten years living here. I feel better when I ride it, I lost a little weight and the best part is that this thing is a great conversation piece.

Bicycles are timeless and something that people from all over the world can all appreciate. Mix that with amazing design and futuristic materials, and you have this brilliant No. 2 Titanium.

I love this thing.

Breville Juice Fountain Elite

Yeah dude. I’m hyping this juicer. I just got it about a week ago and it’s awesome. I’m not on a juice fast or anything like that, but 70% of my meals this past week have been juice. The juice doesn’t taste nasty either. Throwing a couple apples into any vegetable concoction makes it pretty tasty. I’ve been hooking up carrot/beet/apple/ginger and then also kale/celery/cucumber/apple/lemon/ginger. Seriously. It’s incredible. I haven’t even juiced a watermelon and mixed it with vodka yet…

Spring 1990 Box Set

I was a little too young to be around for Spring 1990 Grateful Dead tour, but it was a smoker! This box set is comprised of 6 complete shows from this run and I’ll tell you what. Winter 1973 is in a class all its own, but you could put this tour up against Spring 1977 and we can have a serious debate.

By the way. Great packaging here.

Taschen Jazz Covers Book

Taschen always come out with great books. This one here is actually a two-book set of classic jazz album covers spanning 1940-1990. Coltrane, Miles, Blue Note, CTI, etc. Another great coffee table book from these guys.

Heady Topper Beer

My man Ross first mentioned this beer to me last month in Vermont and explained how hard it is to find. It only comes in a can and only gets distributed in and around Burlington. I finally found some and it was worth the search.

Grain Surfboards

These guys are awesome. All the boards are made from Northern Woods Maine cedar, milled in Maine, and then each board is hand crafted in York, Maine. These guys do such a great job. It’s insane. Mike LaVecchia runs the show and his brother Nick is a sick surf photographer.

I probably have more stuff, but I’ll save it for later.
